Super swanky hotel W Dubai – The Palm is now open.

Set on the west crescent of Palm Jumeirah, right next door to the Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai, the massive new hotel offically threw open its doors today (Sunday February 3).

The hotel is the newest W Escape – billed as “W brand’s playful spin on the traditional resort experience”.

There are 350 rooms and décor is vibrant and modern. Alongside several swimming pools, there’s also Wet Deck, which boasts a bar and will host live DJs.

And there are two exciting new restaurants that we can’t wait to check out. Torno Subito comes from Massimo Bottura – the chef behind the world’s best restaurant Osteria Francescana. The three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Modena, which opened in 1995, is world-famous. It was voted number one in the world in 2016, and this year reclaimed its top spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Torno Subito will be a first restaurant outside of Italy for the chef, and it promises to “take guests on a journey back to 1960s Italy, where the vibe is sophisticated and social, but laid-back”. Dishes include pastas, risottos and traditional mains, and there’s even a roving gelato cart. The restaurant itself is bold and retro, designed to be reminiscent of “the golden age of Hollywood”.

Meanwhile Japanese restaurant from renowned chef Akira Back. The pro-snowboarder turned chef brings a mix of Japanese and Korean cuisine to his eponymous spot. For lower-key meals there’s all-day dining spot LIV, a restaurant designed using upcycled materials.
And if you want to party, it’s time to head to SoBe (short for South Beach), an adults-only rooftop lounge views.

In need for relaxation? Check into the spa and chill out. AWAY Spa has ten treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, experiential showers, a hammam and a couples’ suite. As a further nod to the city’s heritage, the spa is inspired by “the underwater perspective of a pearl diver, where iridescent shells reflect the sunlight that peeks through the ocean above”. There’s also a beauty bar and gym.

“We are excited to bring the W brand to Palm Jumeirah with the highly anticipated opening of W Dubai – The Palm,” said Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International. “As our first W Escape in the region, W Dubai – The Palm combines the city’s unique allure with the brand’s bold design and dynamic lifestyle and gives it a locally relevant twist. With game-changing style, amplified entertainment and innovative culinary offerings, this W Escape will inject a fresh vibe into the local hospitality scene and offer the most sought-after luxury getaway for locals as well as global jet-setters.”

In the entrances is “The Soundwave” – a 6.5 tonne, 30m long visual vector that represents a W sound wave. With 640 glass pieces, the towering fixture puts on a show of its own, illuminating in alternating intensities and colours to reflect the beats of the DJ in the neighbouring W Lounge. Also in the W Lounge is a fire pit – designed to signify the fires the Bedouin tribes would gather around.

And the best news? There’s a special opening deal – book for two nights or more (prices start from Dhs1.750 per night) and get a free upgrade, breakfast at LIV, afternoon tea at W Lounge and dinner at Akira Back.
