Dubai’s Oud Metha area is set to get a new luxurious hotel later on this year – the Sofitel Dubai Wafi.
The team says the property will "merge modern French luxury and ancient Egyptian heritage with the essence and culture of the UAE", and the obelisk-shaped hotel is opening its doors in September 2020.
Connected to WAFI Mall, there will be 498 rooms and suites as well as 97 furnished and serviced apartments, perfect for both city breaks and long-term stays. The Imperial Suite and the two Presidential Suites, which are located on the 47th, 48th and 49th floors, have also been designed by Italian architect firm Duccio Grassi.
Joining forces with famous French beauty brand L'Occitane, the spa has been inspired by a Provençal retreat. Featuring eight treatment rooms, female and male indoor and outdoor relaxation rooms and hamman facilities, spa-goers will be treated to an array of therapies and treatments using the latest in French cosmetology.
There’s also going to be a state-of-the-art gym, an outdoor swimming pool with private cabanas and a hot tub, and a kids’ club which is inspired by the book Le Petit Prince.
Restaurant-wise, there will be plenty to choose from.
Brasserie Boulud has been designed by celebrity chef Daniel Boulud who is best known for his two Michelin starred restaurant in New York.
There will also be the first international outpost of Taiko – an award-winning restaurant from Amsterdam.
British gastropub The Nine will serve up British favourites including pies, roasts, and fish and chips, while Bijou Patisserie will be offering sweet treats.
If you’re taking a dip by the pool, Soleil Pool & Lounge will offer an international menu, mixed drinks and shisha.
