Fairmont Ajman review

Latest Fairmont Ajman deals, rates, details and events, plus restaurants and bars in the Fairmont Ajman. Also, nearby restaurants, bars in Ajman

Why we like it:

• The attention to detail in the rooms is impressive
• XOLA Bar is cool, modern and has a great drinks selection
• The infinity pool looking over the Arabian Gulf is stunning

Location: The new building is very impressive as you drive up, and in the lobby you can almost smell the Fairmont’s freshness. It is situated on the same stretch of coastline as the other Ajman beach hotels.

It’s a tall, sand-coloured building, with two wings leading off an atrium that keeps going all the way to the highest floor. It’s an impressive structure from the outside, in keeping with the other hotels on Ajman’s corniche. The lobby is light (and high) with Arabic touches – Ajman is a place where locals from other emirates like to visit. As mentioned above, it’s all new, and is as shiny as expected.

Excellent. Chefs will come out to talk to customers about the food and bar staff will really look after you. Checking in and out was also pain free.

You might not want to leave it. We found the rooms to be the real high point of the hotel. They are nicely designed to make the most of the space. Bathrooms are big with fantastic showers and very good toiletries. The beds are big and comfortable and the entertainment system is impressive (there are also cables so you can connect whatever you’ve brought with you). The balconies are big, with great outdoor furniture, and every room has a sea and pool view.

Restaurants & bars:
During our visit not all of the food and beverage outlets were open, but those that were ready were impressive. Spectrum, where breakfast lunch and dinner buffets are served, was a cut above most international restaurants, and lunch was mixture of buffet and à la carte. Clever design means it can also open up into Gioia, the laidback Italian restaurant, where we had a fantastic meal. We can certainly recommend the burrata, and the huge pizza oven is an attraction in itself. A Turkish restaurant, Kiyi, has arrived, expanding the range further and Badr Lounge, on a terrace overlooking the sea is planned to open soon. XOLO Bar has an indoor shisha room, cigar lounge and a selection of house-infused drinks – it’s a really cool place to relax after dinner.

Facilities: A spa is being added and there is a small but well-equipped gym already. The infinity pool is fantastic, and has a swim-up bar. The seating, loungers and cabanas around the pool and on the beach are all comfortable. There’s also a kids' pool.

Activities: There’s not much extra going on at the moment, but the hotel is still very new and activities are expected once everything is up and running.
