Four Season Hotel DIFC has opened its doors today.
The second offering from the world famous brand is ‘in complete contrast – and complete harmony – to the first’, which has been operating for less than two years in Jumeriah.
The new, 106-room hotel is staking a claim for the first truly boutique offering in a city where every announcement of something new seems to be all about being bigger. And while this new space will come up with all the glitter and gold – literally, in the case of the 24 Carat Gold Cellular Rejuvenation facial in the spa – that typifies Dubai, it is hoping to attract a cooler clientele.
Time Out have already had a sneak peek at the venue, which is located in the heart of the art hub Gate Village, a stone’s throw from some of Dubai’s most celebrated restaurants, including Zuma, La Petite Maison, Boca and Gaucho. We can confirm it maintains the uber-luxurious style of the sister site by the beach, but doesn’t throw in your face the old fashioned sparkle that is so prevalent at the Jumeirah resort.
Fundamentally a business hotel, it has already made a noise prior to official opening with the soft launch of Firebrand Diner by Michael Mina. The American restaurant is a first international venue for the celebrity chef, and early talk is that its fun approach to high-end dining with rattle a few cages in DIFC, not least with a 3am closing time.
At the top of the hotel, Luna Sky Bar, we are told, will be a refined wrap-around roof terrace with unobstructed views of Burj Khalifa; it has been designed by New York-based Tihany Design.
Completing the food and beverage offering is the Churchill Club, hailed as a heaven for cigar aficionados.
There is also a spa, pool and 24-hour fitness centre, access to an in-room tailoring service from Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdale’s, as well as the chance to utilise the Jumeriah resort.
Stay close to Time Out Dubai for more images from the hotel soon.
