Dubai’s Mandarin Oriental Jumeira is soon to add yet more swish accommodation and fine dining to Jumeirah’s coastline, with the rapidly progressing property set to open at the beginning of 2019.
And among its eight restaurants and bars will be Tasca, the first Middle Eastern restaurant from renowned Portuguese chef José Avillez, whose Lisbon eatery Belcanto currently holds two Michelin stars.
Elsewhere within the property will be a Japanese warayaki-style steakhouse, plus a Mediterranean restaurant positioned at the end of a pier, which guests will have the option to moor their yachts (oh come on, we’ve all got one…) straight up at.
A big opening party is planned to launch the resort in 2019, with rumoured celebrity fans expected to be in attendance – no doubt they’ll be staying in one of the Oriental’s eight over-the-water villas, which will be the first along Jumeirah’s coastline and only the second in the city.
Designed with a “Californian aesthetic”, expect wooden flooring, warm colours reflecting the western state and an understated, chic feel.
Other features of the hotel include the Mandarin Oriental Spa, spread over 2,000 sq m and featured a dedicated hammam-style suite, plus a grand ballroom that opens out on to the beach.
