The Ritz-Carlton Dubai

Immaculately presented European-style hotel overlooking the Arabian Gulf

Time Out Says

It’s all about the Ritz style here. Standards are high and while it doesn’t disappoint, it might not blow you away either. The staff and service definitely deserve a pat on the back, but some of the fine food served up in their restaurants sports price tags that just don’t match the quality. Try booking rooms at the Club Level, where you can enjoy breakfast, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and loads of goodies through the day at the Club Lounge for free (it’s included in the room rate). There’s a private beach right by the end of the gardens, but it can feel a little neglected. The hotel has started a major expansion project (it is in need of an upgrade) that won’t be finished for another two years – but thankfully noise is kept to a minimum. Make time to visit the spa – there’s a good range of East meets West therapies, but it’s the eucalyptus steam rooms that keep us coming back for more.

The essentials
• Not only does the resort have a fitness centre and spa, but there’s also four floodlit tennis courts and two squash courts, two swimming pools and a DVD library.

• Even those with the most discerning palates will like the fine dining options available, from Italian fare at Splendido and regional cuisine at Amaseena, to the poolside snacks by the Gulf Pavilion. Treat yourself to afternoon tea at Lobby Lounge or cigars in the Library Bar.

• The Ritz-Carlton is close to Jumeirah Beach, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Marina Yacht Club, Ibn Battuta Mall and Dubai Marina Walk.

• Try the Splendido international brunch on every Friday that includes a free flow of Prosecco and Italian house wines and beers.

• If you’re not a fan of the beach and prefer a more central city location, check out the recently opened Ritz-Carlton at the Dubai International Financial Centre. It’s near the Burj Khalifa, only the tallest tower in the world.
