Name: Masanori Ito
Job title: Head Chef at 40 Kong
Age: 38

How long have you lived in Dubai?
I have lived here for about two years now.

Where do you like to hang out in Dubai when you’re not at work?

I love to spend time at the water park with the family.

What’s your top tip for visitors to Dubai?

Eden Beach Club on the Palm is beautiful to go to for a nice beach day. In the evening I would recommend Em Sherif, a Lebanese fine dining restaurant that definitely raises the bar for Lebanese food. It's got a beautiful view as it faces the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.

What one thing would you like to do in Dubai that you haven’t done before?

I would like to give skydiving a try.

What career journey did you take before joining your restaurant?

I kick started my career in London. I trained at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu which enriched my passion and skills. I was very fortunate to work at several highly acclaimed restaurants there and had the opportunity to work with the best Michelin Star restaurant Sketch's Lecture Room and Library with my idol, Pierre Gargnaire.

Why should Time Out readers try your restaurant?
Our Menu is unique, no categorized food, and the dishes represent the star foods from all around the world reflecting the cosmopolitan feel and vibe you get in the city of Dubai.

What’s the best thing about dining at your restaurant in 2015?

The atmosphere. The fact that you can come here to enjoy a full dinner, or just drinks with some nibbles, makes it suitable for all. The view at 40 Kong is pretty spectacular.

What’s your dish recommendation at your restaurant?

The whole menu to be honest but if I must chose, the mini burgers wagyu and chicken are the best, along with some steak and salmon tartare.
