Trattoria Toscana launches new menu

The sharing concept makes for an authentic Italian summer family feast

1/2

Waterfront dining is perennially popular here in the UAE, and just because it’s summer, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out. And Dubai’s Trattoria Toscana is the latest venue in this category to come up with a family-friendly experience.

Located in Souk Madinat Jumeirah, the Italian restaurant has launched “La Famiglia” – a selection of all-new dishes designed for sharing. Translation: more yumminess to go around.

Curated by head chef Antonio Locovelli, you can dig into an authentic Italian family feast featuring hearty portions of authentic Mediterranean delicacies. The new sharing menu is all about the chef’s personal favourites – focaccia and gelato – so classic dishes based on the two Italian foods will be on offer. We can sense the kids getting excited already.

If, like us, you love the flat oven-baked Italian bread, you’ll find it in impressive sizes, with options for meat lovers, seafood fans and vegetarians, all inspired by the sublime southern coastal areas of Puglia.

The vegetarian focaccia Pugliese is stuffed with heritage tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil pesto, rocket, shavings of Parmesan and aged balsamic vinegar. The meat-lovers’ version, on the other hand, comprises sun-dried tomato pesto, baby gem lettuce, spicy beef salami, roasted peppers and caramelised onion.

Seafood fans can go for The Fisherman’s Friend – baked with smoked burrata cheese, lemon mayo, baby spinach, smoked salmon, pickled red onion and fresh dill.

For dessert, there’s a large scoop of gelato (of course) and 13 different flavours of ice cream to choose from, plus sharing-style sundaes in three different combinations. La coppa tropicale is made from passion fruit, mango and coconut sorbet, topped with caramelised pineapple. So far, so beach holiday.

And la coppa cremino is a chocolate cremino sundae with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream, toasted hazelnuts, chocolate sauce and caramelised cocoa nibs.

We’ll have all the tasty focaccias and three sundae gelatos please. But do we have to share?
Prices vary. Open daily noon-11.45pm.Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Dubai (04 366 6318).
