What's new in January

Belly Baby Mom’s new venue and programme
This year's looking good for new mums and mums-to-be. Not only will doula and childbirth support agency Belly Baby Mom be continuing with its free community events such as Meet the Doulas and Pregnancy Circles, but it has also launched new mum-and-baby circles where mothers share stories on personal growth, confidence and self-love.

At Meet the Doulas, mums-to-be can meet with a team of international certified and licensed doulas, who will guide and empower them so they can become the real protagonists of their mothering journey.

For their podcast, the childbirth support agency will be discussing more pregnancy-focused topics, and raising awareness on positive journeys and birth.

Upcoming podcasts include ‘What is a normal birth?’ by Lamaze and DONA International Educator Elena Carrillo, which specifically addresses the six healthy birth practices set by Lamaze.

Belly Baby Mom is also launching The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme, which is a complete birth education module on hypnobirthing.

Teaching simple, but specific relaxation and breathing techniques for a better birth, the four-week UK (RCM-certified) antenatal couples’ programme is informative, interactive and fun.

Mums and dads get to explore the physiology of birth, as well as the importance of bonding with their baby prenatally, how to stay positive during pregnancy and get rid of any fears, how they can support eachother as birth partners in the best way possible and more.

The programme will be taught by Shereen Zarroug, a certified doula and antenatal educator, and will be held on Saturdays from January 3 until February 2, 3pm-5.30pm for Dhs1,950 at American Hospital Dubai.

Cinema for teens

Comment allez-vous? That’s all our French vocabulary in one sentence right there, but that won’t be the case for young ones who join Alliance Française Dubai’s new Ciné Teens.

A programme for teenagers aged 14 to 17, it will feature a new French movie every month – at the Alliance’s brand new theatre – for those who would like to improve their language and learn more about the film industry in France.

All movies have English subtitles, so even intermediate and beginner-level teens can follow the story, and everyone is invited to a discussion in French about the movie afterwards.

Movies include Breathe by Melanie Laurent, Alone by David Moreau and Sophie’s Misfortunes by Christophe Honoré.
Free. Until May 2.30pm-5pm. Alliance Française Dubai Theatre, Oud Metha, afdubai.org.
