Zoo-themed family theatre show coming to Dubai

Art For All is bringing another very kid-friendly show to Dubai in March. Dear Zoo, a musical adaptation based on the popular lift-the-flap book, follows the story of Ben. The young boy wants a pet, so he writes to the zoo and they make his wish come true.

What follows is a colourful showcase with exotic, strange animals brought to life by a talented cast, including acclaimed theatre director Michael Gattrell and West End rising star Sam Hoye.

Fans of the book will also be pleased to hear that original author Rod Campbell penned the engaging script, which lifts this story from page to stage in one swoop.

Suitable for kids aged two and above, the 55-minute show will take place at Madinat Theatre from Wednesday March 6 to Friday March 8. Expect songs and rhymes that follow the book’s original text, life-size cut-outs, furry friends and crazy costumes.

Also taking place at Madinat on Friday March 15, Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain is a historical comedy coming to Dubai all the way from London’s West End. This brand new production in the series is all about educational theatre, based on the bestselling works of children’s author Terry Deary.

Encapsulating three of his popular books, Rotten Romans, Terrible Tudors and Vile Victorians, the show motors through the past, giving kids an entertaining insight into British history.

Witty and entertaining, kids aged five and above will enjoy 70 minutes of clever performances and amusing sound effects – no matter whether History is their favourite school subject or not.

From lovable animals to sharp historical trivia and low-key satire, Art For All’s new shows have something for everyone.
From Dhs130 (Dear Zoo). Mar 7, 4.30pm Mar 8, 11am 2.30pm 4.30pm. From Dhs125 (Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain). Mar 15 11am-3.30pm. Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, artforall.ae.
