Review: Sarabeth’s

A popular bakery and café hailing from the Big Apple

Review: Sarabeth’s

Fans of the hit US TV show Gossip Girl will already be familiar with New York bakery and café Sarabeth’s – after all it was Blair Waldorf’s favourite brunch spot. With a thumbs up from the fictional “IT girl” herself we head to its newest branch in Mall of the Emirates with high expectations.

The menu is made up of breakfast dishes, starters, salads, sandwiches, mains, sides and desserts (including an afternoon tea) and there’s even a dedicated vegan menu – overall there’s a nice mix of healthy options and more indulgent dishes.

We highly recommend the halloumi and avocado sandwich, accompanied by a portion of perfectly-seasoned chips, followed by super-creamy pistachio milk cake.

Meanwhile for kids there’s a top-value set menu for Dhs49. Little ones can choose a juice, one of four mains, which include penne with tomato sauce or crunchy chicken with fries, plus a chocolate brownie with ice cream.

But with no enclosed dining area – it’s open to the mall – parents will need to keep an eagle eye on their little ones. It’s a worthy pit-stop for adults mid-shopping, but due to the layout it’s not the most family-friendly.
Open daily 8am-midnight. Unlicensed. Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha (04 328 6888).
