Expo 2020 Dubai mascots revealed

Say hello to the faces of the next World Expo: a magical tree, two Emirati siblings and three robots

Expo 2020 Dubai mascots revealed

The official mascots of Expo 2020 Dubai have been revealed as a magical tree, two Emirati siblings and a trio of robots.

With just over a year before Expo 2020 Dubai opens its doors to millions of visitors, the mascots were introduced at an event attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.

Latifa is an inquisitive eight-year-old girl who dreams of becoming one of the world’s greatest inventors while her brother Rashid, nine, cares deeply for the environment and enjoys poetry, drawing, riddles and family tales passed down through the generations.

The sibling duo, who represent the Emirati population, are joined by three helpful bots called Opti, Alif and Terra who symbolise Expo's three main themes: opportunity, mobility, and sustainability.

The family of mascots embark on a thrilling adventure through time and space to discover the meaning behind the next World Expo, inspired by Salama, an ancient Ghaf tree called who overlooks the site of Expo 2020 having been preserved throughout the construction.

But you don't have to wait until October 2020 to catch a glimpse of Latifa, Rashid and their robot buddies as the motley crew will be appearing on buses across Dubai and starring in a series of short films, plus little ones will be able to get their hands on the mascots in toy form from early next year.
