With Chinese New Year fast approaching, here are some family-friendly suggestions in Dubai where you can take the kids to celebrate the Chinese zodiac year of the rat.

Aventura Parks
To celebrate Chinese New Year Aventura Parks is seeing red – or at least you will if you head there on Saturday January 25.

The whole park will be decorated in traditional red paper lanterns to mark the Chinese zodiac year of the rat.

Little ones can enjoy a day surfing through the trees, rope climbing and ziplining across a range of adventure circuits for less, which is a winner for mums and dads.

There's even a mini zone for the littlest family members (four to seven) to enjoy while their big brothers and sisters (and quite possible parents, too), brave the tree top walks and adrenalin-inducing ziplines.

And if you happen to be a Chinese national you also get 30 percent off your ticket price.

City Walk
City Walk will host a pop-up exhibition to showcase Chinese New Year themed arts and crafts, music performances from Beijing, Suzhou and Chengdu, as well as interactive performances surprise giveaways. Surprise? We’re intrigued.

Dubai Parks & Resorts
Performing for the first time in the emirate, China’s famous TikTok influencer Feng Jia Chen will put on a unique performance, rotating on a giant sphere defying gravity all while dressed as a Tang dynasty princess. Prepare to be wowed.

Habtoor Gardens
Between Thursday January 23 and Saturday January 25, the whole family can have heaps of Chinese New Year fun at Habtoor Gardens’ Asian Village.

As well as an exciting lion dance that the little ones will love, there will be traditional Chinese eats to try such as spring rolls and dumplings as well as an Asian-themed drinks station serving up refreshing mixed drinks.

Let the kiddos loose at the arts and crafts station, and enjoy all the entertainment from an Asian music ensemble and Cosplay contest, to a ballet performance.

Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor
The family-friendly City Brunch in the hotel’s Market restaurant is getting a Chinese-inspired twist for one day and one day only.

On Friday January 24, the kid-friendly brunch is going all out to celebrate Chinese New Year with Chinese décor and special Asian-themed dishes including traditional Yu Sheng Salad (known as the prosperity salad), golden broth with crab meat and mushrooms, assorted and fried dim sum, wontons, fresh Sichuan seafood platter, Sichuan spicy chicken, beef stew with white radish and fried Singapore Noodles.

Kids will be kept entertained in the supervised kids’ club where activities include face painting, a movie corner and cooking classes.

There’s loads going on at cool theme park Motiongate this CNY.

Between Wednesday January 22 and Saturday January 8 there will be heaps of Chinese festivities for the entire family to enjoy.

There will be lion dances and traditional markets, kung fu and martial arts performances, and little ones can even watch a cool parade lead by Kung Fu Panda himself, Master Po, and featuring loads of their favourite cartoon characters, too.

This is all included in the ticket price so once you’ve had your fill of Asian delights, you can head to the rides for some thrilling fun.
