When it comes to family-friendly eateries, The Palm has you covered. And now, there is a new laidback restaurant to add to the list of weekday supper or weekend dining options.

The interior of Ella’s Eatery is small, cosy and eclectic with mismatched chairs and tables, while green foliage hanging from the ceiling gives it a jungle feel.

We head outside to join the rest of the families, where a small terrace houses a handful of tables alongside the edge of the marina.

Expect a variety of cuisines throughout the week, including Western and Middle Eastern breakfasts, salads, grill items, snacks, burgers and pizzas.

We go for a pizza called The Spicy One and aren’t disappointed. The crust is thin, just as we like it, and the tasty combination of toppings (spicy chicken chorizo, caramelised red onions, tomato, mozzarella, rocket and chilli) are plentiful.

The salmon fishcake is also a must-try, though we suggest you avoid tucking too heartily into the warm bread from the bread bowl before it arrives as it’s a substantial portion size. Crispy breadcrumbs house flaky salmon and creamy mash potato with the perfect amount of herbs, spices and seasoning.

The dishes on the kids’ menu are humorously named to reflect what most children say when they are forced to sit at the dining table for too long. Our trio all opt for the I Don’t Want That, which is burger and chips, and follow up with I Don’t Like It Here (ice cream). It could be that the comedy value of the names puts them in a good mood, but each one clears their plate.

A chilled out eatery that’s a huge hit with the whole gang.
