Take the kids to Dubai’s Aventura Parks

Let the little monkeys swing from the trees

When the weather is as perfect as it is at the moment, little sofa-loving, technology addicts should be encouraged to relinquish their iPads and get outside in the fresh air.

But if they need a bit of persuading, the promise of being released amongst the treetops of Aventura Parks should do the trick.

Provided your kiddos have a head for heights then a day out at this awesome outdoor, action-packed activity park will be right up their street.

Plus, there’s that all-important on-site eatery so mums and dads can choose a café latte over a climbing wall if they prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground.

The challenges – of which there are a whopping 85 in total split over five different levels – that you are permitted to attempt are based on your age and height starting with Rangers (for kids 1.15 metres and above) and going right up to the lofty Thriller, which is for taller thrill-seekers over 1.4 metres.

Safety is paramount. After the little adventurers have been harnessed up, they’re given a thorough briefing on using the equipment before being let loose in the practise circuit.

Don’t worry parents… Thanks to some pretty strong magnets, your precious ones aren’t in any danger as it is impossible for them not to be attached to the overhead wires at any time.

Once they’ve found their feet and learned how to harness and unharness themselves from the wires, including getting to grips with the ziplining gadget, they are released on their own to complete the circuits of their choice.

Younger siblings (aged four to eight) who don’t meet the minimum 1.15 metre height requirement can enjoy the brand-new mini kids circuit (which opened this season) where nature trails – with a focus on sustainability and education – and a diddy zipline, should tire them out. And when they’ve had enough of swinging from the branches, they can settle down for a leisurely arts and crafts session, which promotes the importance of recycling.

Also new this season are a brand-new 10-metre high wall – the views from the top are worth the effort – and the Aventura Leap of Faith that will appeal to daredevils who aren’t afraid to jump of a five-metre high platform (eek, thrill-tastic!).

And best of all, when they are channelling their inner Tarzan and Jane, all thoughts of iPads and PS4s will be forgotten.
