With pizza express, Baskin Robbins and a Japanese bakery serving up the cutest little buns we’ve ever seen (think panda faces filled with flavoured cream, yum) Al Ferdous in Al Safa is fast-becoming the family weekend destination of choice.

Adventure Parx and Cafe is the latest child-friendly spot to open and Jumeirah parents, you will be as delighted as we are to have this little gem on your doorstep.

The space, which is huge, bright and airy, incorporates a modern cafe space with Swedish-style wooden tables and chairs and a glass-fronted cabinet housing a range of breakfast pastries and sweet treats.

But it’s the other part that the kids are interested in (so much so that they don’t even beg for one of the pretty cupcakes on display). A play structure takes up most of the space and includes a variety of equipment from a soft toddler play area to climbing apparatus that requires a harness and hardhat, not to mention a little help from the super-friendly staff.

But far from just being an after-thought to the incredible play space, the food is good, really good. A range of salad bowls, wraps and sandwiches are on offer all day long, with the Mexican bowl and the stir fry noodles hitting the spot.

The kids menu isn’t particularly inspiring with the usual suspects on offer, but the kids wolf down the hot dog and pasta they have ordered, before hurrying back to the dizzy heights of the climbing zone.

With all family members happy, this could well become our new weekend destination of choice – if the kids get their way.
