Scoozi with kids

A slightly bizarre combination of Italian and Japanese

A slightly bizarre combination of Italian and Japanese, the waterfront location of the Dubai Mall branch is a great spot for diddy diners. Greeted with crayons, a colouring/puzzle sheet and – major brownie points – stickers, alongside a speedily produced bread basket, and kids are kept happy while mum and dad peruse the dual menu.

For nippers there’s not a vast choice, but pasta staples, a chicken dish and an excellent (if rather large) pizza Margherita, accompanied by a freshly-squeezed juice, will satisfy most young palates. For grown-ups, the Italian section is bursting with antipasto, salads, pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes, or plump for the surprisingly good sushi, sashimi, yakitori or tempura from the Japanese menu. Topped off with cappuccinos, the waiter – without prompting – produced a babyccino for our little gourmand, showing just how far they’ll go to make young ‘uns welcome.
Average price of a family meal for four Dhs250-300. Dubai Festival City (04 232 9595). Open Sat-Wed noon-11pm, Thu-Fri noon-11.30pm. Other locations: The Dubai Mall (04 339 9406); Jumeirah Beach Residence (04 439 3752)
