Cruise the city with Big Bus Tours
Take your tots on a tour of the city or the beaches with this fun (and fascinating) trip, which not only takes in the hottest spots in town, but provides exciting extras to keep little lads and lasses amused. Kids will love lounging around on the open-air top deck of this London-style bus, and the beauty is that you can hop on and off whenever you wish for the entire day – jump off at the Creek Walk stop for your free Arabian dhow cruise. Also included in the price is an excursion to Jumeirah mosque and entry to Dubai Museum and Sheikh Saeed Maktoum’s House.
24-hour ticket Dhs220 (adults), Dhs100 (kids aged five to 15), Dhs540 (families). Daily 9am-5pm. (04 340 7709).

Friday 22

Take part in a fishing competition
This annual all-day fishing festival at Umm Al Quwain Marine Club guarantees great fun for all family, with loads of prizes up for grabs, although you’ll need to make an early start (it kicks off at 5am). While dads and lads can battle it out to bag the biggest fish at sea (there are prizes for different categories, including largest), mum and tots can try free activities including rides on jet skis, quad bikes and in kayaks, bouncy castles and face painting. There’s even an on-shore fishing competition for kids and you can barbecue your catch over live coals, or pay extra for the meat-laden buffet. Enter the lucky draw for the chance to win a motorboat.
Dhs150 to enter. Registration by 5am and cast-off by 6am, prize-giving at 5pm. Umm Al Quwain Marine Club, (06 766 6644).

Saturday 23

Tuck into the soccer breakfast at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club
Perfect for parents with pint-sized pumpkins up at the crack of dawn, this 8.30am breakfast in the club’s Argentinian speciality restaurant, Palermo, offers a brilliant buffet and even better prices. If you fancy making it a regular Saturday sojourn, sign little Stanley up for the Junior Soccer League here (ages six and over) – while he’s playing the field, you can tuck into the sprawling spread. Email for more info on the soccer school.
Breakfast Dhs65 (adults), Dhs25 (kids aged six to 12), under fives free. 8.30am-11.30am. Soccer Kids League Dhs350 for 10 weeks. Classes run 9am-noon. Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, (04 361 8111).

Sunday 24

Wiggle and jiggle at Kiddlywinks
Encourage your little ones to let loose at this energetic music and movement class for tots aged one to three. From activities with musical instruments to traditional songs with actions and props, this fun mum-and-bub class means kids can let off steam and mums can aim to get in shape. If you and your tot are fans of The Wiggles or Hi 5, you’ll love this high-energy class, which challenges not only their (and your) physical fitness, but also their imagination.
Dhs50 for a trial session, Dhs315 per term. 9.30am-10am. Al Areesh Club, Dubai Festival City, (050 694 3730).

Monday 25

Pamper while they play at Favourite Things
Multi-tasking mums rejoice! Rather than hanging around twiddling your thumbs while your tots play, why not get primped and polished while you wait? Favourite Things has teamed up with home spa provider Brush & Co, which will be supplying speedy sessions to have you pampered and preened before your pint-sized precious ones return. Let the therapists melt away the morning’s mania with a 15-minute shoulder massage, or polish and prettify your toes with an express pedi.
Dhs25 for eyebrow shaping, Dhs90 for a 55-minute French pedicure. 10 per cent discount for members. Daily 9am-8pm. Dubai Marina Mall, (04 430 8252).

Tuesday 26

Boost your child’s confidence
If you’re worried about your kids’ self-esteem or could do with some tips on boosting their confidence, this 90-minute workshop will provide you with the tools and techniques to help your child feel good about themselves.
Dhs60. 10am-11.30am. KidsFirst Medical Centre, Al Wasl Road (04 348 5437).

Wednesday 27

FREE! Shop guilt-free at Kidville
Spend an evening browsing and buying from Kidville’s new autumn collection at this special shopping night. With a fun art table for tots to get their teeth into, you can shop without stressing about your bored bubs. There’ll also be 10 per cent discount on all goods, food, giveaways and gift bags. And, with a portion of proceeds from the raffle going to Dubai Autism Centre, this gives you even more reason
to shop ’til you (or they) drop.
Free. 5pm-7pm. The Walk at JBR, (04 440 1220).
