Family fun in Dubai

Family iftar, munch brunch, swim with dolphins and more

Thursday 25

EDITOR’S PICK Feast on a family iftar at The Westin
It’s surely one of the swankiest iftar venues in town, and the two-storey tent at the Mina Seyahi is a great spot for a family treat after sundown. It has a VIP feel and varied Arabic spread, yet it’s still one of the best deals to be found this Ramadan.
Dhs140 (adults); Dhs100 (kids aged six and over); free for kids aged under six. Until end of Ramadan. The Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort, (04 511 7136).

Popcorn in the pool
Take in a movie under the stars while you splash around in the water. What better way to start the weekend than with a communal family flick at the Cine-Splash! movie night at Dubai Polo Club? Tonight’s line-up is Open Season at 7pm, followed by all-time favourite Garfield at 9pm. Non-members also get a free Dhs150 voucher for the spa when they watch the movies, so it’s an extra treat for mum and dad too.
Dhs35 (adults); Dhs20 (kids aged four to 12). Ongoing. Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, Arabian Ranches, (04 361 8111).

Friday 26

Munch brunch at the Mövenpick
At this top family brunch, parents can enjoy the steady stream of international à la carte and buffet dishes in Jigsaw restaurant while the kids are entertained in their own play area. Food for nippers is provided, and there are kids’ supervisors who organise all sorts of activities, including Play-Doh sessions, space hopper races and various games. There’s also a huge TV that screens Pixar classics. Relaxing, enjoyable and it won’t break the bank. What’s not to like?
Dhs119 (adults); Dhs50 (kids aged seven to 12); free for kids aged under six. Fri 12.30pm-4pm. Ongoing. Mövenpick Deira; (800 33472).

Practice your lucky strikes and make the most of wearing those multi-coloured bowling shoes at this funky bowling alley. Playnation is offering a summer deal that gets you two for one on all the main attractions when you buy your tickets at VOX Cinemas. This means families can enjoy a cut-price afternoon in the alley, then pop into Johnny Rockets for tea. Yum!
Dhs25 per person per game. Open daily 10am-1am. Ongoing. Playnation, Mirdif City Centre, (800 534 7873).
