Stake out some dinosaurs at Dino Live
Little paleontologists will love this animatronic exhibition of lifelike dinosaurs. Hear the T-Rex roar and watch out for the swishing tail of the Diplodocus. There’s even a dinosaur ride to try.

Join the Gleeks
If you’re a fan of the Glee extravaganza, head to Festival City to catch song-and-dance show Glee Mania. The line-up includes plenty of songs from the show, along with energetic dance routines and live vocals. Free. Daily 6pm-7.30pm. Until May 26. Dubai Festival City, (800 332).

Tour the stables at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club
Join a two-hour guided tour to see behind the scenes at the polo club, including a close-up view of the horses training and insider info about how they’re looked after. Finish the morning with breakfast in Epona Lounge.

Splash about at Dreamland Aqua Park
For a full day of splash-tastic fun and games, head to Umm Al Quwain’s favourite waterpark. Not only can the kids let off steam on the slides, rides and wave pools, there’s also a mini menagerie with Shetland ponies, deer and exotic birds for little ones to look at, alongside a poolside restaurant and plenty of greenery. Make the most of it before the weather gets too hot.

Have brunch at Cucina
Enjoy a family brunch at The Courtyard by Marriott in The Green Community. One Moment in Time at First Group Theatre
Another one for High School Musical fans, this tribute performance, put together by the students and choreographers at Diverse Choreography, promises a toe-tapping show of song and dance. Expect hits from Shrek, Legally Blonde, Matilda, Austin Powers and Toy Story, plus many more.

Head to the Ripe kids’ market
Stock up on a wide range of locally grown, organic fresh fruit and veggies at Dubai Garden Centre today, while the kids enjoy an arts-and-crafts session laid on for free by the Ripe organisers.

Storytime at Dubai’s Old Library
Take your pre-schoolers along for the Sunday-morning story session at Dubai’s Old Library. An experienced storyteller will have them spellbound for almost an hour, leaving you free to browse the bookshelves in peace. Afterwards, they can borrow a few books to read at home – a great way to encourage a love of literacy. Book your place in advance – the session fills up quickly.

Get arty at Super Dooper
Want to catch up with friends, but got to look after the kids? Super Dooper has the answer. Bring the kids with you to the Dubai Marina centre and staff will whisk them away into the toddler room for an hour, while you catch up with friends over a coffee and enjoy craft activities.

Children can pledge their support to the environment – and have heaps of fun too – by visiting KidZania from now until Tuesday June 5. The mini kids’ town is running a raft of ‘green’ activities, including recycled materials fashion shows, eco crafts and more.
