Tonight is the opening night of this family-friendly stage show, which runs until Saturday 22. As you probably already know, it’s the much-loved classic story of the puppet that comes to life, who just happens to have a little problem when it comes to telling fibs… The two-hour show is great for kids.

Gamers unite!
Head down to Dubai Festival City this weekend for the Games12 gaming convention. It’s a chance for young technoheads to find out about the hotly anticipated new video games from the likes of Sony, Microsoft and Electronic Arts. Even better, entry to the three-day event is completely free.

Screeeeaaaaaaaaam! on the new Jumeirah Sceirah slide
Check out the revamped waterslide at Wild Wadi, which opened earlier this month. We hear it’s bigger, wilder and more terrifying than ever. If you’re not brave enough, you can still make a big splash on the rest of Wild Wadi’s keep-cool attractions, including Breakers Bay, Juha’s Journey and the Burj Surj.

Tasty bites at the Treat World Food Fest
It’s the final day of this popular foodie festival at BurJuman mall in Bur Dubai. Expect live demonstrations, masterclasses and cook-offs from some of Dubai’s top chefs, and the chance to browse, taste and buy cuisines and ingredients from across the globe. Don’t miss the ingredient aroma competitions, where you can sniff out some fantastic prizes.

Crocs away!
Want to get up close and personal with some of nature’s most fearsome beasts? Check out the brand new Crocodylia exhibit at the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. It showcases several different species of croc, including Cuvier’s dwarf caiman and the African dwarf crocodile, as well as a whole host of fascinating croc-based activities. Just don’t get too close to those teeth.

Celebrate South Africa Day
It’s National South Africa Day today: to celebrate, Tribes restaurant at Mall of the Emirates is offering a menu of the region’s tastiest dishes. Running from September 21-27, you can try local delicacies including biltong bread, pan-fried calf’s liver with yam mash, and beef tripe stew with pap. There’ll also be some traditional African percussionists to keep you entertained as you dine.

Mums at the movies
Reel Cinemas is offering mums and homemakers a special treat every Monday morning at Dubai Marina Mall’s cinema. For Dhs60, you’ll receive one movie ticket, a cup of coffee and a freshly baked muffin, plus a 20 per cent discount voucher to use at The Spa or Mazina restaurant in The Address Dubai Marina.
