How long have you been in Dubai?
We have lived in Dubai since 2010. The oil industry brought Les and I over here.

What’s the best thing about bringing up children in Dubai?
The mix of cultures, the variety of things to do and the weather! As much as we love Scotland we really appreciate the sunny climate here and spending a lot of time outdoors, especially in the pool at home.

How long have you lived in Jumeirah Park?
We moved here in September last year. Before this we lived in Marina Residences on the Palm but have found Jumeirah Park to be a better family home as we have a garden which is great for the girls and all their outdoor toys!

Why choose this neighbourhood?
We needed a bigger family home and the main reason we moved here was because we wanted to live in a modern, new build house with a big garden for the girls. The house we live in here is just what we were looking for.

Did you have your kids in Dubai?
Sophia was born in Al Zahra Private Hospital in Dubai. The hospital is more like a five star hotel than a hospital! Everything about it is first class and Sophia being born there was a fantastic experience. The medical team are great, especially Dr. Yamini Dhar who delivered Sophia.

Have you found it easy to meet other mums?
Yes, Sienna has gone to various baby/toddler groups since she was six months old so I have met a lot of mums through groups. Jumeriah Park is a favourite for families so there’s a lot of mums in our neighbourhood too.

What family friendly facilities are nearby?
There’s a new nursery being built in Jumeirah Islands beside us and there are plans for a new school to be built within Jumeirah Park. A new shopping centre called Jumeirah Park Pavilions is also under construction. We are also close to the Marina area of Dubai which is only a short drive away.

Are you planning to stay in the Jumeirah park area?
Yes, we plan to make Jumeirah Park and Dubai our long term home before returning to Scotland one day, but that’s a long time away!

What do you do in your free time away from kids?
We like to spend most of our free time with our girls but when we do have free time, we both love the Spa at the Sofitel on the Palm and going to our favourite restaurant, Zuma in DIFC.

Please list your favourite:

Favourite Mother-child facility in Dubai:
Favourite Things in Marina Mall have a great play area which Sienna and Sophia love and a huge range of classes for babies and toddlers. Sienna loves Boogie Babies and Moms and Tots which are both held there. We spend a lot of time there!

Family hang outs in Dubai:
Safa Park on a Saturday afternoon with a coolbox and a picnic. Jumeirah beach to splash about and we all love going to the Montgomerie Golf Course for a family lunch. Atlantis hotel is a favourite with us too.

We both love shopping, so Dubai is a great place for that. We also love family weekends away, exploring as much of the different Emirates as possible. Les is outnumbered living with three girls, so when he can, he loves to watch as much football as possible!
