Jonas Brothers

As the Jonas Brothers 3D movie comes to Dubai Time Out asks the Disney stars about fame, fans and their red carpet style

What do you think the best thing about being famous is?
Kevin: The best thing is seeing fans’ reactions to our music. I still get goosebumps when I see a huge audience from the stage. It always takes my breath away.

What do you think of your fans?
Joe: We’ve got the most amazing fans all around the world. They’re awesome!

Nick: And we love them all.

What’s the craziest fan story you can remember?
Nick: We had a crazy time when we appeared on a show called Good Morning America. Girls were jumping over fences and trying to get near us – and police officers were holding them back. It was madness!

Joe: Another funny time was when we were on vacation with our family. We were eating dinner when this lady walked up to the manager of the restaurant. She told him, ‘My sons, the Jonas Brothers, are in there. Don’t tell them I’m here because I want to surprise them – but I’m just going to go in there and say hello.’ The manager said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ He didn’t let her in, but he told us about it afterwards. We couldn’t believe it.

Sounds like your fans come up with sneaky ways to get near you wherever you go…
Joe: That’s true! I remember the police setting up barricades at the New York premier of Camp Rock so that the fans couldn’t break through and grab us – but they actually broke through. They got past the police officers and everything!

Do you ever get nervous when you walk the red carpet at swanky showbiz events?
Joe: Well, there’s definitely sweat involved. But at the same time, you just blame it on the weather if it’s a hot day.

How long does it usually take you to get ready for a red carpet event?
Joe: I think we’ve got it down to about an hour for all three of us to get ready to go somewhere.

Nick: Joe always takes the longest, though. It can take Joe up to seven months to get ready!

Joe: I do take the longest, but it takes me a while to wake up. That’s what I blame it on anyway.

Do you have a stylist to help you with red carpet events?
Kevin: We have a stylist who works alongside us – but we all like to pay attention to what we’re wearing and who we’re wearing. We also try to pay extra attention to what’s new and out there.

Joe: A stylist brings clothes to us, but we still choose what we want to wear. We’re constantly on the go, so it makes it a much easier way to shop without having to go to any stores.

How would you describe your sense of style?
Kevin: We always said we wanted to bring high fashion back to rock and roll, so we’re always well dressed. We wear blazers and skinny ties when we’re not on stage. We like to dress up – that was part of our goal.

So, what’s next for you three guys?
Joe: We have a lot going on right now. We’ve shot the 3D concert movie, we’ve got tours coming up and we have loads more music to record. We’re really excited about everything – including our new Disney Channel show.

What would you like to see happen in Camp Rock 2?
Nick: Ooh, that’s a good question!

Kevin: I would love to see Camp Rock 2 set in Hawaii. How cool would that be? We’d love to go and film there. Bring it on!
