Children's drama club in Dubai, Constellation

Time Out Dubai Kids profiles the children's drama club in Dubai, Constellation. Hear from Jane Scaife, who runs this popular drama class in Dubai

As soon as Constellation set up its kids’ classes they were inundated with requests for lessons for very small children, leading to the creation of Squeaky Feet.

“In particular, there was nothing for one to three-year-olds,” says Scaife. “Having run classes for that age in the UK, we decided to start them here. We are the only people to provide drama sessions for this age group in Dubai. We are also the only people to run any sessions where parents join in.”

After Squeaky Feet, kids can then progress to Twinkle Toes for three to five-year-olds, without mum and dad watching over them.

However, the appeal of the youngest classes isn’t reserved simply for the kids taking part. The parents enjoy bonding with their children, as well as their fellow mums and dads, especially when there’s the chance for a coffee and a catch-up afterwards.

Each week the classes have a shared theme – from the circus to the farm, magical creatures to picnic time. All of the kids will be taught a range of skills, including song and dance, percussion, rhythmic clapping, foot stamping and stretching.

“Both classes get children used to working in a drama space and to working socially, sensibly and safely together,” says Scaife. “Children learn the basics of acting as well as building their confidence, and communication skills.”
