Calling all horsey types. Almost every child has harboured dreams of leaping onto a majestic mount and riding off into the sunset, the breeze in their hair. OK, so they won’t get very far with this Rivelin rocking horse, but they can still saddle up the old-fashioned way for some pure olde-worlde indulgence. Modelled on the classic Victorian style and beautifully hand-crafted from birch hardwood, the saddlery is made from fine-quality leather, while the mane and tail are real horse hair and all the fittings solid brass. Kids will love giddy-upping on this elegant thoroughbred in the comfort of their own homes, not to mention plaiting its mane over and over again. At Dhs25,000, it costs around half the price of the real thing, plus it doesn’t need feeding, mucking out or exercising. We guess that makes it a bargain…

You could be forgiven for mistaking this twin pack of bibs for jars of baby food, and the crossover doesn’t end with the packaging. Adorned with fruit and veg prints (you can either get carrots and peas or strawberries and oranges) they’re perfect for camouflaging spillages – if you can get your tot to eat that healthily. Snap them up now; after all, tea time may be a messy affair but that’s no excuse for not staying chic.

Straight from the Discovery Channel, this Glow Star Globe is, funnily enough, a normal globe during the day, but at night it transforms into a fascinating look at the magical night sky, complete with all the constellations of the southern and northern hemispheres. The Toy Store has a whole host of new fascinating and educational toys from the Discovery Channel, plus they’ve recently taken delivery of a brand new batch of lifesize furry friends, including an elephant, hippopotamus and giraffe.

Thanks to Deepak’s fabric store for the material for this month’s game show host costume, and to Coventry tailors, who branched into kids’ clothing just for us and patiently crafted our snazzy jacket from gold lamé.

We’re not sure of the wisdom of letting kids loose with permanent marker pens, but apparently this T-shirt graffiti set is all the rage, and perfect for birthday parties, end-of-term celebrations and other miscellaneous arty moments. The eight pens can be used on cotton T-shirts, caps and trainers, and once dried (or ironed on) they’re there for good. Alternatively, get busy with this fabby finger painting set. Turn your fingerprints into works of art from coloured, flowers creatures and characters. The set includes 12 rubber stamps for kids to add funny faces, hands and feet and other features to their designs, as well as 12 colouring pencils.
