Meet the teacher - Head of English Language Arts

Time Out Dubai continues its series Meet The Teacher. Here we meet Daad ElYafi, Head Of English Language Arts at Al Mawakeb School

School: Al Mawakeb School

Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Al Mawakeb School, Al Garhoud, in 1996.

What was your favourite subject?
Having become an English teacher and co-ordinator, clearly my favourite subject was always English. I also liked Physics a lot because I loved my teacher.

Were you good or naughty?
Hmmm. I would say neither, but, if I had to choose, I’d say good. I do, however, think I was a respectful and witty student.

What was the naughtiest thing you did at school?
Oh boy. That was so far back. I think it would be the time we played pranks on people during Scouts camps. We’d paint people’s faces or put toothpaste on them while they were sleeping.

What’s your happiest memory from your school days?
I’d say every day. I loved going to school and being involved in different activities. I loved being part of Scouts and other groups – all of which have made me the person that I am today, and why I pursued a career in education.
