There are brunches, there are family brunches and there are brunches that put the needs and wants of children so firmly at the centre of their very ethos that they deserve a category all of their own.
The new ‘Ultimate Family Friday Brunch’ at Flow Kitchen in Fairmont The Palm falls into that third group.
First, and this should always be the main concern for a Friday brunch, the food is of a high standard. The BreakSlow brunch, as it used to be known, is one of Time Out’s favourite Friday foodie hangouts. The cuisine-hopping food includes dim sum, Peking duck, Brazilian churrassco, beef rib-eye and Yorkshire pudding.
Kids will enjoy the food but dedicated children’s options include vegetarian sushi, smiley-face sandwiches (because, you know, they are always better) strawberry and mango smoothies, and more.
The truth of the family brunch, however, is often that the real attraction is for parents to enjoy a feast while allowing children to find entertainment themselves. Flow Kitchen’s two hours of interactive activities include face-painting, balloon twisting, arts and crafts and even a magic show.
So far, so impressive. What takes the Flow Kitchen brunch to the next level, however, is the fact that it comes with free access to the Fairmont’s Falcon Kids Club. Plus, brunchers are offered a 50 percent discount on the Fairmont The Palm beach access, so a full day can be made of a visit to the Flow Kitchen brunch.
