Dancing babies may sound like the stuff of freakish nightmares, but it’s actually not as sinister as it sounds. Honest. Instead, Baby Loves Carnivale (formerly Baby Loves Disco) is an afternoon dance party for little kids and their parents, hosted in the rather nice surroundings of Wafi Rooftop Gardens (it will be shaded, so no matching parent-child lobster tans should arise).
Baby Loves Disco is something of a phenomenon around the world. US co-founder Heather Murphy explains: ‘We’re parents, and we’re always looking for something new and different to do with the kids that is at least tolerable to us.’ And throwing shapes to ’70s,’80s and ’90s dance classics with your brood is the answer.
But the organisers of Dubai’s Baby Loves Carnivale have taken things a step further. As well as the massive dancefl oor, you’ve got face painting, bouncy castles, crawling competitions and children’s entertainers, along with food and drink and loads of other fun stuff, all included in the ticket price. It almost makes us want to borrow a baby so we can go too. Although we in no way recommend that.
Saturday March 21, Wafi Rooftop Gardens, 1pm-4pm, parents and their children (6 months-7 years), Dhs95 per person, crawlers (non-walking babies) go free. A maximum of two children per adult is requested. www. babylovesdisco.ae 04 390 2060
