Dubai loves a world record, we know that much. And every so often they set one with an important message rather than mere celebration at its heart.
And so it is with a big cheer that we bring you news of Unilever's health soap brand, Lifebuoy, teaming up with Dubai Health Authority to break the Guiness World Record for the most high-fives given by a mascot in three minutes.
Set up in conjunction with Global Handwashing Day, and as part of the brand's Help A Child Reach 5 campaign, over 300 guests took part at The Winchester School, Jebel Ali, to help raise awareness of the importance of handwashing. The finishing total was 323, and included children, mothers, caregivers and Unilever employees.
Running alongside the event were a series of special activities and edutainment pop ups all geared towards teaching children about avoiding preventable diseases like diarrhoea and pneumoniam, that claim the lives of over 1.4 million children across the globe before they reach the age of five.
It is part of wider campaign, the world's largest in fact, to change hygiene behaviours around the world. To date, it has reached over 337 million people across 28 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
