January 1-7

Shoe experts Clarks have unveiled their new Mini Folk range for two- to four-year-olds. Boots use new AirSpring FX technology to provide shock absorption for little heels so your kids can run and play with extra comfort. If you’re heading to colder climes this winter, the soft, cosy fur trims will keep tiny toes warm, and there are enough designs to suit all.

Scoot with sharks
Fancy getting up-close and personal with some of the ocean’s most fearsome creatures? Head to Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo where you can venture through the main tank on one of these futuristic submersible scooters. The bubble helmet provides excellent visibility and scooters come with one- and two-person seats. The ticket price also includes aquarium entry and the back-of-house tour.

Light it up
Online retailer Salla has launched a gorgeous range of light-up letters, perfect for illuminating your nurseries and bedrooms. Available in red and white, these little beauties are battery-operated and fitted with LED bulbs. It’ll make your kids’ room talk of the playground.

Fitness at a click

The new Fitness First Community Club at Arabian Ranches is enticing families to workout together, offering fun classes for kids with trained professionals. Cuddle with a cutie
Fancy something soft and cute to brighten up your day? Get down to Mercato Mall where there’s a new Build-a-Bear Workshop with lots of cute and cuddly creatures looking for friends. It boasts a bigger-than-ever “stuffer”, which will no doubt be a highlight for little fans of the brand, and plenty of brand-new toys are now available to choose from, too. The spending season isn’t over just yet!

Shop ’til you drop
Now in its 22nd year, the Dubai Shopping Festival promises another huge month-long extravaganza of amazing deals, flash mobs, raffles and celebrity appearances. Thousands of shops will be offering discounts of up to 75 percent, while there will also be opportunities to spend and enter draws to win everything from cars to 34 kilos of gold. Also, head to The Beach on January 28 at 8pm when there will be a huge firework display that kids will love.

Book a staycation

On Yer Bike
With five stages over 865km the Dubai Cycling Tour will bring five days of excitement to the city for the whole family to enjoy. It’s one of the most anticipated events in the cycling calendar and will see the best riders and teams come to Dubai from across the world. Pick your vantage point and watch as these super stars speed past.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show
Munch your way through a crazy afternoon alongside a little caterpillar with a very big appetite. Direct from New York’s Broadway and London’s West End, this smash hit stage show is in Dubai to enchant young audiences.
