If you’re looking for an easy way to keep the kids occupied while you can enjoy a sneaky flat white, Café Ceramique readily delivers with both caffeine and all-abilities-welcome crafting.
Our two pint-sized Picassos shout with glee as they enter the quaint little café, when they spot the clay models lining the shelves, ready to be splashed with paint.
But first, we have tummies to fill, and so we choose a portion of pancakes (big enough for two) that arrive fluffy and fresh, with a side of syrup, chocolate sauce and fresh fruit. It goes down a treat. Meanwhile, the mushroom and veal omlette is a great choice for heartier appetites, arriving packed full of rosemary potatoes, and served with sides of onion rings, hash browns and a portion of crisp salad.
The morning glory bagel does taste a little overly-processed, but is enjoyable enough, served with cheese melted over a poached egg.
Once we finish our meal, we get down to the serious task of painting a cheeky garden gnome with our small boy and a cute little fairy for the little lady. The cheery staff are only too happy to help with picking out the perfect paint colours and give some great advice on the best paintbrush size to use for all those finishing touches. Our stunning creations completed (if we do say so ourselves), they are then sent to the kiln for firing, and can be collected in a week. A great excuse to return!
