Game Van Dubai

Celebrate at home with a mobile gaming theatre on wheels

Whether it’s leaping around while following the moves on Just Dance or huddling in pairs over a serious game of FIFA 17 on the Xbox, kids just can’t get enough of this virtual fun (and nor, admittedly, can we!). With this in mind, we look at why Game Van parties are swiftly growing in popularity...

The party
All you need is an address, an external power supply and a bunch of keen gamers and you’re pretty much good to go. Game Van is essentially a mobile party room kitted out with all the latest gaming consoles, along with a bank of ultra-HD TV screens and luxurious leather seating. The Game Van will pull up outside your house at a pre-arranged time and entertain your party guests without anyone having to actually go anywhere. It’s the perfect way to entertain kids, and even some of the adults!

The package
Packages vary in terms of the length of time the kids would like to play for – this ranges from 60 to 150 minutes. Bespoke themes can also be conjured up in advance.

The food
There’s no grub allowed inside the van (for obvious reasons – who wants sticky controllers, right?), but the videogamers can take a break mid-match or you can keep the party food and cake-cutting for after.

The cost
A 60-minute weekday party for up to 12 children costs Dhs1,700, rising to Dhs2,400 for 90 minutes, and a two-hour weekend party will set you back Dhs2,720. Or you can go all out with a 150-minute weekend party for Dhs3,200. This also includes invitation cards.

The tips
Once they’ve filled the Game Van with their best buddies, chances are there will be no room for you to sneak in and take photos. Leave that job to the Game Van team, who are happy to snap away and send you all the action shots afterwards.

The verdict
Twelve kids occupied for two hours in your driveway with no noise and no mess to clean up? Er, need we say more?
