Darren Gale interview

We spoke to the principal of Kings Nad Al Sheba

School: Kings Nad Al Sheba

Where did you go to school?
I went to an all-boys school in Bath, Somerset, in the UK.

What was your favourite subject?
I enjoyed a range of subjects but mainly languages, music and geography.

What’s the naughtiest thing you did?
I have to confess that I was not such an ideal student! I once jumped on the table of a maths class and the clock fell off the wall and landed on top of my teacher’s head!

What’s your happiest memory from your school days?
Unfortunately, my schooling was not a very positive experience, hence my drive to become a teacher and headteacher so that I could strive to make school a positive place for children. It wasn’t all bad, though. I did enjoy the international visits, the productions and performances and friendships I made.

Who was your most memorable teacher then?
Mrs Hall, my languages teacher, who really challenged me – both positively and negatively!
