Superman? Check. Spider-man? Check. Wonder Woman? Check. And these are all within the first five minutes of Mazina’s Superhero brunch.
The 2016 winner in the best brunches category at the Time Out Dubai Kids Awards, this year Mazina’s Saturday offering claimed a Highly Commended gong, meaning it’s still one of the best family brunches in town.
With staff dressed up in the aforementioned costumes adding to the kids’ party vibe, there’s no chance anyone under the age of ten is hitting the buffet before they’ve tackled the bouncy castle, had their face painted and acquired a few stick-on tattoos.
So, with this in mind, we take our opportunity to do the obligatory “brunch cruise” around the food stations – and we like what we see.
The South-East Asian section is stand-out, with artfully-rolled duck pancakes, lighter-than-air Thai fish cakes and crispy Vietnamese vegetable spring rolls.
The kids, meanwhile, can’t get enough of the cute cucumber lemonade in dainty glasses and happily devour the traditional delights from the vast roast dinner options – the favourite, of course, being the whopping roast potatoes drowned in tasty beef gravy.
The kids’ buffet serves up the standard pizza, pasta chicken nugget options, but it’s the entertainment that’s the real jewel in the crown for families here. Our favourite master of illusion, Magic Phil, is a highlight, making a much-anticipated appearance with the kids’ reactions of excitement akin to a rockstar at a sell-out gig.
We squeeze in more desserts than we probably should have (those mini desserts are misleadingly filling) but the top-notch spread, entertainment and service means a fun-packed afternoon all round.
Dhs315 (soft drinks), Dhs440 (house beverages), Dhs160 (kids aged six-11), Free (kids under six). Sat 12.30pm-3.30pm. Address Dubai Marina (04 888 3444).
The bottom line
We love it, kids love it. Still one of the best in the city. Don’t miss it.
