Stuck for lunchbox ideas? Who isn’t…

But now, popular food delivery service Deliveroo is offering up some inspiration, with a feature on its app that UAE parents will be happy to hear about.

Deliveroo’s “lunchbox stuffers” is a new tag you’ll find across its dining outlets’ delivery menus.

According to the food delivery service’s survey, parents tend to prepare their kids’ school lunches the night before, so Deliveroo has identified some items to fall under the new lunchbox-stuffer category and – best of all – they’re options that can be delivered in 32 minutes or less, and refrigerated for school the night before. All that’s left to do in the morning is prep and pack them.

Upon consulting Farah Sawaf, an extremely busy business owner and mother of three young boys who’s also a culinary specialist/menu development consultant in the UAE, the food service got tagging.

“From my own personal experience, as well as that of surveyed parents, lunchboxes are typically prepared the night before,” Farah tells us. “Our solution was to curate a selection of fresh and delicious food that can be delivered the night before. All that’s left on a busy morning is to heat up the order, wrap it all up and then pop it into a thermos as you would do with food made in your own kitchen.”

Want to know who made the list and with what meals? Here are some of them:

Noodle House: freshly-made vegetable and chicken fried rice, along with chewy Asian noodles

Eggspectation: roast chicken pan-pressed quesadillas

Prêt To Go: Mixed fruit cups, turkey and cheese pressed toasties, and freshly blended smoothies

Baker & Spice: creamy four-cheese and whole milk macaroni and cheese, and in-house organic spaghetti and meatballs

Hen House: lightly-breaded chicken breast bites

“I, as a busy mother of three little boys, have tried and tested every single item with my own kids and asked other parents/their kids to give us feedback as well. This was all tested within the kids’ actual lunchboxes (ordered the night before and heated that morning before school) and I can honestly say, it has changed how I pack lunches on those hard-to-cook/prep days.

“Everything that will appear as a ‘lunchbox stuffer’ has been kid and parent-approved from experience and shortlisted for Deliveroo users. I honestly feel parents are going to love this idea,” Sawaf adds.

Time to test out some delivery lunchbox ideas. Let’s hope the kids will prefer this over the school-staple cheese sandwiches.
