Play free rugby with Mike Phillips this weekend

Rugby star to coach kids and develop their sportsmanship skills

Sports and Outdoor

Ever since the UAE Ministry of Education and the country’s Rugby Federation signed an agreement to add the sport to national school curriculums, we’ve kind of had a feeling everybody would be going crazy for rugby.

And we were right! It starts with free kids’ rugby coaching sessions taking place right this weekend.

As part of Mike Phillips’ Play Rugby Academy launch, the scrum-half player will be hosting a number of sessions open to kids aged five to 14 on Friday January 26.

A bit of background: Coach Mike played for Wales and the British and Irish Lions, as well as a number of professional clubs.

Not only will the kids taking part in the sessions learn from Mike and a number of experienced coaches, but they’ll also enhance their running, chasing, passing, and dodging – and build on their social skills with a number of team-building exercises.

The Academy is also launching new group fitness sessions for parents so they can train while their kids play. Classes are timed, so you can drop off your kid, work out and collect them at the end of their session.

Free. Fri Jan 26, 9am-10am (under-fives and under-sixes), 10am-11am (under-sevens and under-eights), 10am-11am (under-nines and under-tens), 11am-noon (under-11s, 12s, 13s and 14s). Nord Anglia International School, Al Barsha (04 219 9999).
