The Croft review

Excellent food, good value and a great setting for a meal out with the family

For a spot of British grub in a hops garden, with stunning views, The Croft is a fantastic choice.

Set on the fifth floor of the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, with views across Dubai Marina, this is an idyllic place for a family dinner.

In the garden (complete with fake grass), there’s enough space for the sprogs to move around without disturbing other guests.

The kids’ menu is served up until 11pm, so you can relax in the knowledge that your whole tribe will be catered for well before their bedtime. It’s available for little ones up to the age of 12 and you can pick a two-course or three-course combo.

Their palates will be enlivened with a multitude of deliciously prepared dishes that also feature on the adult menu, such as a cauliflower tempura and poached organic salmon with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. There’s also a fail safe chicken tenders option, with hand-cut chips and The Croft’s classic cheeseburger, with smoked cheddar, salad and fries. A selection of desserts include chocolate cornflakes and ice cream and decorate-your-own gingerbread. Winning already.

For parents, there are plenty of Brit pub comfort food options done with sophisticated Dubai flair. An order of the cod will not disappoint. It comes with lentils, smoked mash, celery and carrots, and it’s a sweet, light, healthy bite in a perfectly manageable portion. Team it with a starter of goat’s cheese, with pickled beetroot, pear, hazelnut crumb and watercress, and you have a meal well worth leaving the kitchen for. The Scotch egg is also worthy and will reward parents and children with its authentic taste. The Desperate Dan pie, meanwhile, made with beef tongue and cheek, is good for meat fans.

For Brit fare the whole tribe can enjoy, The Croft is a great all-rounder. And it wont set you back and arm and a leg, either.
