RIVA Ristorante review

Fuss-free beachside dining that’s ideal for a chilled weekend

In the cooler months, when the weather is spot-on, there’s not much better than heading en famille to the pool and beach.

Combine that with a lazy meal and you’ve got a pretty perfect day right there.

RIVA Ristorante is a great place to enjoy a bite to eat outdoors, and it has a new menu that also includes healthier options – courtesy of special list RIVA Lite.

It’s super family-friendly as well, and a special kids’ menu lists pizzas, mini burgers, fish fingers and spaghetti bolognaise and more – all at under Dhs40.

We settle in the outside area and enjoy the view of the sea and pool while we nibble on some chicken satay to kick us off. Tender chicken skewers come with a punchy peanut dip. We can’t get enough.

For mains we choose a salmon salad, which is fresh, light and full of flaky fish. The addition of orange and pomegranate is welcome, but overall the flavour is a little bland. We also go for a burger. Possibly best reserved for after a side of calorie-burning kayaking, this massive meaty offering is as tasty as it is large.

Whether you’re after a bite during a chilled beach day with friends, a post-swim brekkie a family-friendly lunch, this is an ideal Palm spot to try.
Open daily 7.30am-midnight. Building 8, Shoreline The Palm, Palm Jumeirah (04 430 9466).

The bottom line
Chilled-out beachside eats for the family.
