Massive global supermarket chain Carrefour is now offering free home delivery with no minimum spend. And the best news? Your shopping will arrive within an hour.
All you need to do is log onto the Carrefour website and fill your online basket, stick an episode of your favourite hour-long show on TV and wait for the doorbell to ring.
Meanwhile the dedicated folks at Carrefour will be whipping round, carefully gathering your fruit, veg, Haribo and the like without you having to do so much as lift a finger.
Also jumping on the delivery bandwagon is Dubai ride-hailing app Careem, which recently announced it was planning to start delivering food in the city.
The company is reportedly planning to spend up to US$150 million (Dhs551 million) to launch a food delivery business.
According to Reuters, the launch could happen as early as September, pioneering in Pakistan before being followed by the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries as well as Egypt.
Careem has reportedly been trialling food delivery services after acquiring regional online restaurant listing platform RoundMenu in February, Reuters said.
The company, which has 24 million registered users, already competes with Uber for taxi services in many major Middle East cities including Dubai, Riyadh and Cairo.
