Find out the basics about living in Burj Dubai Downtown, Old Town and Old Town Island area

The Knowledge
Burj Dubai Downtown, Old Town & Old Town Island

What’s the area like?
Located around the Burj Khalifa, as well as The Dubai Mall, this area is considered by some as the design world’s new frontier. Scale wise, at the least.

Amenities
The Residences complex covers pretty much everything – supermarkets, pharmacies, cafés and salons as well as pools, gyms and squash courts. The nearby Old Town with Souk Al Bahar, the Addresses and The Palace also offer shops and lots of restaurants and bars. There are no schools, though.

Best for

All kinds of professionals.

Pros
The abundance of amenities, access to SZR, views of the Burj Dubai and the aesthetically pleasing Palace Hotel. You may even find yourself living in a mini-Venice if plans to flood parts of the area to make way for water taxis come to fruition.

Cons
Traffic and construction still snake around the place like bad smog. As is Dubai-typical, the roads change every month for no apparent rhyme or reason.
Average cost of a two-bed apartment in Downtown Burj Dubai: To rent Dhs130,000, To buy Dhs2.3m.
