Discovery Gardens and The Gardens guide

Find out the basics about living in Discovery Gardens and The Gardens

The Knowledge
Discovery Gardens, The Gardens

What’s the area like?
Tucked away and fully living up to its name, this rapidly growing area is packed with trees and chirping birds, so residents feel like they’ve fully escaped the city into an established community.

Amenities
Jebel Ali Hospital is but five minutes’ drive from The Gardens, petrol stations are aplenty and Ibn Battuta is the world within a mall. There are parks and lots of pathways to walk and jog along. Dubai Marina also lies across the highway.

Best for
All sorts – apart from those after the constant buzz of inner city life.

Pros
Parking is a breeze, traffic jams are relatively rare and, despite feeling detached from the city’s main drag, you’re only 10 minutes from the marina. It’s also easy to grab cabs coming in from Ibn Battuta – apart from on Thursday nights, when it’s best to arrange alternative wheels.

Cons
Getting a place in The Gardens is like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow – not only can you not buy them as they’re all owned by Nakheel, but there’s a long waiting list for leasing. Since the Discovery Gardens opened the traffic is on the increase, especially around rush hours (7.30am-8.30am and 6pm-7pm). There are also too many pylons and the buildings are pink...
Average cost of a two-bed apartment in Discovery Gardens: To rent Dhs80,000.
