The Knowledge
Rashidiya, Garhoud & Festival City

What’s the area like?
Dusty old Garhoud is being given a new lease of life with nearby developments such as the green and glossy Festival City.

Amenities
From schools to golf courses, mega malls to the trusty Irish Village, this is an area containing pretty much everything you’ll need. Garhoud boasts a Welcare hospital and Festival City on the creek boasts, well, pretty much everything, including a mall, bowling alley, cinema, schools and hotels.

Best for
Those who like to be close to the airport or work in the area.

Pros
With the variety of what’s on offer, there’s something for everyone here – though beach lovers need not apply.

Cons
A long way from ‘new Dubai’, it, at times, feels a little remote. Endless building work is a nuisance for those anywhere near hearing distance. Earplugs are essential.
Average cost of a studio apartment in Garhoud: To rent Dhs130,000.
