Desert Islands Resort & Spa

If you prefer to start the new year with neither bang nor whimper, but quite simply as you mean to go on, may we suggest you book yourself in to the UAE’s newest and most magical resort? Located on Sir Bani Yas Island, what was once a private nature resort for members of the royal family has now opened to the public as a luxury retreat, the Desert Islands Resort & Spa.

The onsite wildlife park is home to free-roaming animals, including a herd of around 400 Arabian oryx (one of the largest in the world), which visitors can explore by guided 4x4. If your plans for 2009 include expanding horizons of both body and mind, you might also want to get in touch with nature with a hike across the islands rugged salt domes or by kayaking through its mangrove swamps. Or, if the way your preferred dose of well-being comes courtesy of some relaxed pampering, book yourself in to the resort’s spa.

Sir Bani Yas might only be 250km away from Abu Dhabi, but the Desert Islands Resort feels like it’s half a world away. Make the most of it this year and GGC residents will benefit from a three-night stay for the price of two.
