The imperial measuring system is to be discontinued in the UAE, as the country shifts to the metric system. The announcement was made by Mohammed Saleh Badri, the acting director of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA), yesterday. This will include all official transactions in the country, following on from the move from gallons to litres earlier this year. However, no date has been confirmed about when the shift will take place.
