Dubai to curb spending

The government pledges to save Dhs3.6 billion this year by cutting back on expenses

The Chief of Dubai Police and the head of the budget committee Dahi Khalfan says that the emirate can cut spending by 30% in order to reduce the expected Dhs5.8 billion budget deficit. Government departments have been told to cut back on spending by 15 per cent. ‘We have been extremely spoilt,’ Khalfan told Bloomberg. ‘We spend like an Arabian house, with all its generous hospitality.’ We wonder how the cuts will manifest themselves?
