A networking organisation has been set up to help expatriates who are fresh off the plane meet new people.
The members-only group, called Gooseberry, has been in existence for less than a month and aims to match - based on their interests and ages - a group of at least six strangers to meet over dinner.

The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment is launching a new initiative this summer, in addition to Dubai Summer Surprises and Modhesh World, called ‘Ramadan in Dubai,' which will be followed by ‘Eid in Dubai'.

One of television’s most famous cooking and lifestyle experts, Martha Stewart, visited the cultural area of Bastikiya in Dubai as part of her tour of the UAE to promote her television cookery shows and regional magazine titles.
The US media pioneer’s visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi has been hosted by Takhayal Entertainment’s Chairman, Youssef El Deeb, for the celebrity to learn about local culture and visit some of the tourist hotspots during her two-day stay.

The flyover passing across Al Houdh Roundabout will be opened in September 2011, with the project set for full completion in all phases in the second quarter of 2013.
The flyover will channel traffic inbound from Jebel Ali Port and outbound to Dubai City on Emirates Road along with connectors to Abu Dhabi and Dubai Bypass Road.
