Scorer of YouTube sensation back-heeled penalty killed in car crash

UAE football star Theyab Awana has died in a car accident, it has been reported.

The Baniyas winger, 21, became a YouTube sensation when he scored a back-heeled penalty against Lebanon in July.

Awana is believed to have died instantly when the car he was driving collided with a lorry when returning to Abu Dhabi with his brother following the training session, according to The National.

He was training with the UAE’s 2014 World Cup squad in Al Ain ahead of the team’s qualifier with South Korea on October 11.
