Heavyweight Dutch DJ Afrojack is to headline a music festival rivalling Sandance.
The Grammy Award-winning producer will top a bill alongside US hip-hop quartet Far East Movement at the second dXb Music Festival.
The one-day event will take place at Al Badia Festival City on October 5 – exactly seven days before the first Sandance of the winter 2012 season.
Also on the bill is chart-topper Kaskade, who was named as America's Best DJ 2011 in a recent DJ Times poll.
Afrojack is best known for 2010 worldwide hit ‘Take Over Control’ – as well as for a former relationship with notorious socialite Paris Hilton.
The 24-year-old DJ said: ‘I'm so excited [about the] dXb Music Festival. I haven't been to Dubai in about six months and it’s my favourite vacation and party place so I can't wait to rock it with you guys.’
Far East Movement became the first Asian-American group to score a hit in the Billboard Top 10 with 2010 single ‘Like a G6’.
A statement from the band read: ‘We are excited to perform for the first time in the Middle East, at the dXb Music Festival. We are going to turn up the love, bringing you that dirty bass so everyone get your hands up and get ready to party with the Far East Movement.’
Last year’s inaugural dXb Music Festival, headlined by electro-pop duo LMFAO, was nominated for Best Festival at Time Out Dubai’s Nightlife Awards earlier this year. Tickets for this year’s event, a Live Nation Middle East production, go on sale on August 15.
The line-up for the next Sandance event, hosted by Atlantis The Palm on October 12, is yet to be announced.
