As hype for the Abu Dhabi Film Festival reaches a crescendo this week, with the final screenings on Saturday October 20, excitement is starting to build for Dubai’s own event, now just weeks away. The team at Dubai International Film Festival are notoriously tight-lipped, but we’re hearing rumours elsewhere about some pretty interesting guests tipped for the event, which begins on Sunday December 9. We’re particularly excited about talk of a visit from Michael Haneke, one of only seven directors to have won the coveted Palm d’Or at Cannes twice. The Austrian filmmaker is best known for The Piano Teacher, Hidden and The White Ribbon.
