It’s been confirmed that Hollywood star Cate Blanchett will visit the city for the Dubai International Film Festival next month. While none of her films are being screened, the Lord of the Rings star will attend a charity event organised by IWC – and we’ve heard she won’t be the only star guest in attendance. Elsewhere, we have a scoop on some of the movies that will be screened at the eight-day event, which kicks off on Sunday December 9. These include Bill Murray playing American president FDR in Hyde Park on Hudson, and Dustin Hoffman’s directional debut Quartet. There’s also Radioman, a documentary about a homeless man who became an extra in more than 100 Hollywood blockbusters, and Shut Up and Play the Hits, the live film of LCD Soundsytem’s final gig earlier this year. There won’t be any free outdoor screenings at JBR because of the construction work, though the team are hoping to find an alternative location.
